Ministry of Science and Technology carries out large-scale thematic inspection on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), fuel oil and gasoline in 2012

Under its mandate of state management in the fields of standards, quality and metrology, and industrial property with regard to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), fuel oil and gasoline, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) sent Letter 591/BKHCN-Ttra dated 16 March 2011 to People’s Committees of cities and provinces to request their collaboration in guiding the large-scale thematic inspection efforts in 2012 in areas of metrology, quality, and industrial property concerning LPG, fuel oil and gasoline all over the country.

The inspection is aimed at examining and inspecting the compliance with metrology, quality and industrial property related regulations by individuals and organizations selling LPG, fuel oil and gasoline; focusing on inspecting the conformity of products with published standards and technical regulations (through collecting product samples for experiment and evaluation).

To prepare for the inspection, MoST will organize training courses for individuals, who will take part in the inspection at various localities around the end of April and early May, 2012. After the training, local authorities will start planning and implementing inspection within their jurisdictions.

The thematic inspection will be carried out in June, July and August, 2012. Results of the inspection are expected to be announced in October, 2012.
